Swap luxury loft for Adria Astella 904 HP
Why settle for a permanent home when you can be at home anywhere in the world? Jessica and Roger left everything behind in Düsseldorf at the beginning of 2021 and have been travelling through Europe in their Apache Home ever since. Now they are taking stock!
We have been thinking about our future home for years. The difficulty for us was choosing the location, because we did not rule out any part of the world from the beginning. After much deliberation, we made the only right decision for us: We would buy a house on wheels. This way we would be mobile and flexible to travel to any place in the world and explore our favourite places intensively and discover new ones. The question of whether we should choose a caravan or a motorhome didn't even arise for us. We had just got our new off-road vehicle a few months earlier, and of course we didn't want to miss it on our trip to Europe. Besides, we always want to stay in one place for a longer period of time, which is why unhitching the caravan and thus exploring the area by car gives us more flexibility.
After a little benchmark analysis of the latest luxury caravans, we decided on an Adria Astella. The decisive factor for us was the innovative concept, which offers an open and spacious living area. We also liked the modern and straightforward design of the Astella best. We knew that this would now be our home indefinitely. So we decided on the largest of the three models: the Adria Astella 904 HP. We assumed that we would need every inch of this caravan and would be grateful for the extra three metres of interior space (compared to the smallest model).
For half a year now, we have been living and travelling through Europe in our Adria Astella 904 HP, which we have dubbed "Apache Home". Our first assessment: a great decision for us. In fact, our four walls on wheels may seem too small for some people. We also hear from family members that you can't live in a caravan! From campers, on the other hand, we hear that they have never seen such a long caravan, let alone been able to pull one without any problems. Whichever way you look at it, the size is simply perfect for us! If it doesn't fit in our Apache Home, we don't need it. Funnily enough, it's rather the other way round! For example, because of the many storage options, we have far too much clothing with us, even though we are already equipped for all seasons.
Our new life began at the beginning of the year. At that time, travel was very limited due to the worldwide Covid 19 pandemic, as almost all European countries had closed their borders to tourists. Only Croatia was still letting holidaymakers into the country, so the very first thing we did was to set up camp there. We liked the Istra Premium Camping Resort so much that we extended our stay three times and thus stayed on the Croatian side of the Adriatic Sea until the beginning of May. As new campers, we had a lot to learn, but soon we knew our new rolling home inside out.
Roger had already planned to come to the Formula 1 in Monaco last year with our 23 square metre mobile house. No sooner said than done. We spent May at Esterel Camping on the fabulous Côte d'Azur. We enjoyed our time there very much, until it was time for another change of location. After almost half a year, we wanted to see something other than coast and water.
After an eleven-hour drive, we reached the South Tyrolean mountains in shorts and clogs. There was not much left of the 30 degrees on the Côte d'Azur. How good that the Adria Astella is prepared for everything and that we always have everything with us. So the last remaining snow at 1600 metres in the Sesto caravan park did us no harm. Nestled in the Dolomites, the pitches are generously laid out and equipped with all the luxury and comfort that is possible.
To sum up after half a year, we take stock and in short: we love our new lifestyle! The Adria Astella is just perfect for us - not too small to live in permanently, but big enough not to have to do without anything. We would describe ourselves as adventurers and globetrotters, but without wanting to give up the luxury of the latest technology and a cosy, modern home. Thanks to the Adria Astella 904 HP, we can live in the most beautiful parts of the world, get to know them and move as soon as we long for a new destination. This is exactly what we had always dreamed of. And the best thing about it: we always have our home with us!
